the favorite show that reminds us of facts and now we are hitting brand new episodes of life and other things

Don't believe all of the negative reviews. If you are expecting a fabulous five star lounge with fancy tables then this is not the place for you. This is a cool bar for regular guys who just want a cold beer at a fair price. The perfect after work experience. No pressure, no bull, no crap from anyone. The owner Sissy is very attentive to her clients needs and makes sure her servers are take care of the customers. Do not dismiss this place if you think it looks like a dive. Try it! We enjoy meeting our workers after a long day. There are a hundred bars in the Miramar area but this one has a personality you might agree with.

Yes... you read it correctly. 5 freakin stars. My whole experience was fan- freakin- tastic tonight! On this Thursday evening full of rain & lightening. I pulled into the parking lot at 4:15pm & from the outside Off Base looked closed- til I saw a fellow patron walk in. Sissy (yes, the owner- better realize what an asset Kristal- hope I spelled your name correctly!- I s to your bar!) The bar is full of male patrons from one end to the other. And there's Kristal. Pouring drinks & looks up to greet me. A new fresh face here. THAT alone says a lot! How inviting! I see an open bar stool smack in the middle of the bar. There is a pint there... & I ask Kristal & the patrons next to that stool if the seat is taken. Nope. The 2 other patrons to the right even move outta their seats to let me sit down. I first ordered a pint of Stella. Then quickly get on my phone to look up aftermarket suspension for my motorcycle. I didn't have any creeps trying to hit on me. Everyone pretty much gave me my space. Kristal engaged in conversations from each end of the bar. I asked if I can taste a sample of Hess' Grapefruit (forgot the name)... & Kristal let me try it out. I did go w/ the California Kölsch... Even ordered some garlic fries at the kitchen window... Steve is the cook back there. For $3 & the portion- you seriously can't go wrong!! Best ever! Think I stayed for 2 hours. By that time- I made some friends w/ the regulars... bought a round of oatmeal cookie shots. Kristal had no idea what it was. But, once I told her the ingredients- it was on! The bar even has butterscotch schnapps!! Yeah buddy! The backgrounds music was jamming 80s music. And I didn't mind one bit. Definitely coming back. And yes- I did watch the Bar Rescue episode:P

Okay so I seen the Bar Rescue episode on Sunday for this bar and being here over a year ago things have gone back to the way of the "Filling Station' Can't order any of the special drinks and all the waitresses are gone and new staff. The kitchen is 5 stars with the independent cook, and Kara is the bomb bar tender. She is friendly and outgoing. She is a keeper. Seen Sissy today for the third time since I been here and she is funny and serious. I will still keep 5 stars on this just because of Kara. To Sissy the owner..do what you can to keep this one. Will update again when I try the night life here.

Wherever I visit I like to interact w/the local crowd by way of the neighborhood dive bar. Isnt "Off Base" a great name for a bar across from the Marine base in San Diego? They're playing a lot of Tom Petty, Motörhead and well, OK: Trap. You can't escape it.

This was my favorite place to go to back in the day after a long day's work of to start the weekend. I love the overall ambience here. Simple dive bar which has pool tables, karaoke and shuffleboard. This place has since upgraded since it's days as the filling station. Drinks are cheaply priced here. Good for pitchers or a few individual cocktails if you are not trying to break the bank. The only thing I have to take one star away for is they never seem to have any ginger ale. Ghey either use ginger beer or make a coke/sprite combo that acts as the flavor of it. Come on down and check it out anyway!
